Join us as we celebrate fifty years of theatre under the stars! For this milestone, our season will include four shows that have been past favorites at the Barn. We close our 50th season with Shakespeare's crazy romantic comedy, Twelfth Night.
A hilarious comedy tinged with darkness, Twelfth Night is Shakespeare's comedy of gender and identity confusion, in which a girl disguises herself as a man to be near the count she adores, only to be pursued by the woman he loves.
Viola and her twin brother, Sebastian, have been shipwrecked in a foreign land at war with their own. Each believes the other to be drowned. Viola disguises herself as a young man and, under the name of Cesario, gets a job as a servant for Duke Orsino.
Orsino is in love with the Countess Olivia, but she's mourning for her dead brother, so has rejected all his advances. He sends Cesario (who is really Viola) with love letters to woo Olivia on his behalf. Unfortunately for the Duke, Olivia is taken in by Cesario’s disguise and falls in love with him. In the process, Viola has secretly fallen in love with Orsino, and Orsino is confused by his feelings for his new ‘male’ servant.
So, Viola loves Orsino, Orsino loves Olivia and Olivia loves Cesario/Viola...enter Sebastian and queue the hilarity! Will Cupid finally get it right in the end? Join us at the Barn and find out!
Bring your favorite lawn chair or blanket, pack a picnic, and join us for a night of Shakespeare under the stars!
**In the event of rain or excessive heat, the show will be held INSIDE and tickets will be limited to 50 for that performance.
